November 2026 · Compliance guide
If you sell kitchenware on Amazon, a compliance test report is not optional paperwork. Amazon commonly requires documentation for food-contact products before or during listing, and a report that looks complete can still fail review — wrong SKU covered, outdated standard, or a lab without proper accreditation. This article shows you how to read a report field by field, what Amazon typically asks for in the US and EU, and what to ask your supplier.
As a supplier/exporter working with partner factories in Yangjiang, we help buyers prepare compliance documentation for Amazon listings. Our products meet FDA, LFGB, and EU food-contact material standards, and compliance documents are available on request. (Regulatory details reflect general industry practice as of the time of writing; confirm specifics with a compliance adviser — not legal advice.)
A general picture, not a quote of official policy — requirements vary by marketplace, category, and listing date:
The most common gap is partial coverage. A report for a black nylon spatula does not cover the red version; a report for a 304 stainless knife says nothing about the PP version of the same line; a new coating, silicone supplier, or resized mold can invalidate earlier results.
Rule of thumb: list every SKU/color/material combination you will sell and ask your supplier which ones each report covers before submitting.
A reliable supplier answers all seven without hesitation.
Q1: Amazon rejected my documents. What now? Common causes: wrong SKU or color covered, a lab lacking ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, a cited standard mismatching marketplace requirements, or a report predating a product change. Match the sample description against your listing variants, then ask your supplier for the missing coverage.
Q2: Does one report cover both Amazon US and EU? Typically not. The US commonly relies on FDA-related testing plus Prop 65 assessment; the EU on EU 1935/2004 testing, often with LFGB data. Plan for two testing tracks (as of the time of writing; confirm with a compliance adviser).
Q3: How often should products be retested? Retesting is typically expected after any change in material, colorant, coating, or factory; many buyers also retest annually as routine practice.
Q4: Can my supplier provide a Declaration of Compliance for the EU? For EU food-contact products, a DoC identifying the materials and applicable regulations is commonly expected alongside test reports — compliance documents available on request is our standard.
Q5: What is the MOQ for products with compliance documentation? Our MOQ is 1000pcs. Compliance documents are provided on request for covered products; new colors or custom materials may need separate testing first.
